| Such strange dreams~ |

Last night, or probably more likely this morning, I had a pretty weird dream.
It was set in this big old castle/stately home-type place, which I knew was in Oxford in spite of never going outside. We were there on a sort of school trip thing - they were hosting this event that was for kids to have fun and learn about the history of the place. Basically, we were supposed to solve "the mystery of the lost crystals".
At first, we had to go in in pairs. Me and Kate were one of the first pairs to enter, and it was really quite creepy because there was almost no one around. It was a lot like a library on the inside - one massive room on the bottom floor filled with bookcases with a big sweeping staircase in the middle that took you up to either side of the second floor (because it was split into two parts). It was really dark - dark red carpet, dark wooden bookcases all the way to the ceiling, filled with old and musty books, you could smell old book smell - and barely anyone was in there yet. There weren't any visible windows once you went in among the bookcases, only flickering lamps. I remember we got progressively more and more scared until a particularly dark shadow seemed to detach itself from the bookcase to swoop towards us and we ran away, back to the staircase. It was much brighter there so we decided to head upstairs, where there were still a lot of bookcases but the books were newer and there was a glass ceiling, so it was a lot lighter.
We went up the left half of the staircase, then when I looked over to the left I saw Abby, Katy, Shiv and Steadman on a computer, doing research. We decided to join up because they hadn't found anything yet either. We went looking for some history books on the castle, because we were supposed to be there to learn about history. It seemed logical that some hints to the mystery (which we knew nothing about beyond what I already mentioned) would be in a history book. We couldn't find that many, because everybody else had the same idea. We read one but couldn't find anything useful - it just talked about the architecture, not the residents.
We went to a desk where a guy was (I assume a library desk, but it looked sort of like a checkout. I think I stole a lot of Waterstones for this dream X3) to ask him if it had something to do with the residents of the castle. He sort of smiled because he couldn't say anything to help, but nodded a little bit too, so we took a small book from the counter which was a guide to the library and went to look for books again.
We found a lot more books this time by going into a different wing. We all sat around a desk and were reading parts out to each other that we thought might be helpful - legends about the castle, names of people who lived there and stuff that happened to them, stuff like that. I was looking through a book when I came across a story I thought might be important (with that logic that only works in dreams :P). It was hard for me to get everyone'sattention because they were all talking excitedly about what they had found, but I did eventually.
The story I had found was about one of the residents of the castle from the 12th century, a Lady Eleanor. She was very fond of cheese, and often had some brought to the castle in big round... blocks? Like wheel-shaped. Anyway, one time she was having some cheese brought and just as they got to the door of the castle, one of the cheeses fell off the cart. It was quite fragile cheese but it rolled all the way down the drive without breaking. The man who brought the cheese went and got it, and it still didn't break, but when Lady Eleanor touched it, it split into two pieces. For some reason, she thought that this was a good sign, and decided that the cheese, in its two pieces, should be buried in her garden of daffodils. I think this was something to do with aiding her in having a child, although I can't think why. X3 Dream logic.
Anyway, in another example of dream logic, it was evident to all of us that since she'd buried the cheese beside daffodils, the crystals would be buried beside daffodils too. We went back to the central staircase, then past the computer we'd tried before. Beyond that, there was another room you couldn't really see from the centre. It was like an indoor, second floor greenhouse - the reason for the glass roof. There were rows and rows of daffodils planted in the dark brown soil, in various states of growth ranging from just putting out a flower bud to in full bloom. We carefully felt through the soil (it was pretty loose) beside each row but couldn't find anything. Then we noticed that right at the front of the soil (looking at it from where we'd come in from the staircase room), there was a row of soil where it looked like daffodils ought to be growing (like they'd been planted, the soil was slightly raised), but they weren't. Putting our hands into this soil, we found it was full of crystal fragments (actually plastic that glowed slightly blue X3). We found the fragments of six crystals and put them together. They snapped together like plastic pieces do. We took them to the desk, to the man we'd asked for help earlier. We were crowding around, saying, "Did we win? Did we do it?"
"You won," he said. "Well done." Without me seeing what he did, he put them all on strings, black wool strings, so we each had a necklace. I was worried we'd brought too many and not left enough for other people, but we were supposed to bring one each so he could do this, so it was okay.
After that, we were free to do whatever we wanted so we went outside to get some food. Kate said, "Do you want some ramen?" And I shook my head, then waved my arms and said "Gyoza! Gyoza!" Then, I woke up. X3
My mum told me this morning to not speak to my sister about last night, because she's going to do it.
I didn't have a lot of time yesterday, but today I'm working on the comic. :3 |
